Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. In this role, you will deliver a patient needs-led occupational therapy programme, utilizing a range of assessments, treatment approaches, and evaluation methods based on best available evidence. You will work with a specific patient group, contributing to their overall care and rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a patient needs-led occupational therapy programme through assessment, treatment, and evaluation, ensuring best practice and evidence-based approaches.
  • Be actively involved in clinical risk assessment and development of risk management plans, ensuring adherence to these protocols.
  • Effectively manage a nominated caseload under supervision, ensuring timely and professional service delivery.
  • Adhere to professional and locally agreed standards of practice.
  • Time manage effectively and prioritize areas of responsibility.
  • Contribute as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), providing clinical reports and contributing to the Care Programme Approach (CPA) process.
  • Participate in clinical governance and quality assurance activities.
  • Undertake any other duties relevant to the role, such as session cover.
Key Requirements:
  • Proven experience in occupational therapy assessment, treatment planning, delivery, and evaluation in a mental health setting.
  • Experience planning and delivering a variety of individual and group interventions.
  • Strong experience of effective team working within a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Ability to maintain accurate written records, databases, and produce detailed reports.
  • Experience of liaising with other agencies, services, and professional colleagues.
  • Experience in secure settings (e.g., prison, young offender institute, or forensic unit) is desirable.
  • Experience in supervising other staff members or OT students.
  • Experience in undertaking clinical audits is advantageous.
Key Skills:
  • Ability to motivate and engage patients in their therapy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload efficiently.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and liaison skills (both written and oral).
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-professional team, fostering positive working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain clear professional boundaries when working with challenging patient groups.
