Quest Employment is supporting a new client based in Chesterfield to find a Technical Documentation Author whose main purpose would be todevelop and implement comprehensive technical documentation solutions, support managers with technical reviews and compliance, and ensure the delivery of high-quality publications for a diverse range of customers.
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement technical documentation solutions.
- Provide support to the managers on technical reviews and compliance.
- To have working knowledge of project management structure, technical authoring and template/stylesheet development.
- Responsibility for developing technical publications delivery solutions for new and existing customers.
- Work closely with project managers and project engineers to provide customers with a coherent documentation pack through the life of a project.
- Create documents or complete information on customer templates to enable project milestones to be met to the requirements of customers DIDS (Data Interface Documents) or CDRLs (Customer Data Requirements Lists).
- Review customer quotation proposals, checking for compliance or deviation.
- Mark up documents and create briefing packs for design and engineering teams.
- Gain an understanding of the product range and of specialist systems provided to be able to complete support documentation.
- To produce ILS (Integrated Logistics Support) documentation and have an understanding of BOM (builds of material) structures, parts breakdowns and spare part recommendations.
- Review customer quotation proposals, checking for compliance or deviation.
- Ensure the monitoring and tracking of customer document submittal, including document submission dates and revision history.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Ability to manage own projects and workload.
- Ability to demonstrate previous experience of developing, implementing and delivering technical publications.
- Drive and enthusiasm to achieve customer quality criteria.
- Good technical problem solver.
- Ability to work to deadlines and adhere to schedules.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, SAP and Autocad.
- Understanding or experience of FMEA and FMECA would be useful but not mandatory.
- High standard of written English.
- Excellent communication skills and effective team player.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Good understanding of engineering data in a variety of formats from Engineering drawings to design reports.
- Competence using project tracking tools and documentation management tools.
- Have an understanding of BOM structures, parts breakdowns, spare part recommendations and Integrated Logistic Support.
- Marine background / experience would be useful but not mandatory.
- Experience is more relevant than educational attainment.
