Job Title: HGV Driver
Location: Newbridge, EH28 8PJ
Pay Rate: 13.66 per hour with overtime paid at x1.5, daily, if worked over core hours which are contracted to 45 hours per week
Shifts: Monday to Friday, 6am to 4pm plus overtime. Average 10 hour shift per day with 1 hour unpaid break
Contract: Permanent

Manpower are looking for a dedicated HGV Class 2 driver to operate from our clients Newbridge site, collecting waste streams from businesses throughout the Scotland area. No previous experience is required-just a professional attitude and a willingness to learn.

In this role you will be responsible for the collection and safe transportation of waste to and from the Newbridge site. This will be a variety of waste streams, including general human waste, dry and recycled waste, sludge, and slurry from major clients such as Scottish Water and Diageo. You'll operate skips and roll-on/roll-off vehicles, safely managing assigned routes in a professional and customer-focused manner.

As an employee you will follow you will ensure safe loading, securing, and unloading of waste to avoid damage and maintain compliance with safety standards. You will also be required to perform daily vehicle inspections and ensure the vehicle is in good working order before beginning the route.

The training offered includes on-the-job training and standard induction for best practice.

To succeed, you will need:

  • Cat C Licence, DCPC and Digital Tachograph
  • Able to competently and safely operate assigned vehicles
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform vehicle inspections
  • No more than 6 penalty points


Other skills which will be of benefit however are no essential:

  • HGV driving experience
  • A strong commitment to environmental responsibility
  • Previous experience in waste collection, logistics, or a related field is desirable
  • Knowledge of vehicle security including equipment and plant
