A Senior Sous Chef is needed to join the team at this award-winning pub in Ratho on a full time basis.

The pub is a charming gastro pub with a 1 AA Rosette, known for its stunning canal views and warm, welcoming atmosphere. With 4 cosy bedrooms for guests and a focus on locally sourced produce, it offers a dining experience that blends high-quality cuisine with the heart of the Scottish countryside.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the leadership of the kitchen, working closely with the head chef to maintain and elevate culinary standards.
  • Use locally sourced, fresh ingredients to create seasonal dishes that enhance the pub's award-winning menu.
  • Manage daily kitchen operations, including inventory, stock control, and supplier relationships.
  • Train and support kitchen staff to ensure a cohesive team environment, especially during peak service.
  • Uphold the high standards expected of a rosette-awarded establishment, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish.
  • Ensure the kitchen meets food safety and health standards.

 Required experience and skills:

  • Previous experience as a senior sous chef or sous chef in a high-quality, locally-focused restaurant or gastropub.
  • Enthusiasm for fresh, seasonal ingredients and creating dishes that showcase Scottish produce.
  • Strong ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a small but dedicated kitchen team.
  • Able to handle the demands of a busy kitchen while keeping a keen eye on details.
  • Driving licence (beneficial). The gastro pub is located 7 miles from Edinburgh, access to a vehicle is advantageous.
