Power Electronics Engineer

Location: Edinburgh

 

Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Power Electronics Engineer with a background in Electronic Engineering and experience in ACDC and DCDC converters. The ideal candidate will be passionate about innovation and willing to travel to support our global operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance our product offerings and contribute to our growth.
  • Manage product development from concept through to mass production.
  • Collaborate closely with system architects, mechanical engineers, control engineers, and other specialists.
  • Simulate switching converters using tools such as Mathcad, Simplis, SPICE, and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Prepare, review, and approve schematic designs, magnetic designs, power loss calculations, and parts lists, supporting the PCB layout team.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in power electronics design, semiconductors, magnetics, and control theory.
  • Proficient in laboratory tools (oscilloscopes, dataloggers, AC and DC sources, electronic loads) and CAD/MRP tools.
  • Knowledge of LLC, phase shift converters, and active PFC.
  • Familiarity with EMC/EMI/shielding is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret and review technical requirements.
  • Experience with formal design processes, including design reviews and stage gate reviews.
