Position: Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician

Shifts: 4-on 4-off schedule (days and nights)

Salary: £53,000 plus 10% Bonus

Function: The primary role of the Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician is to ensure all production machinery and plant equipment are maintained in a safe and efficient condition, supporting production needs and maintaining optimal operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planned Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance on production machinery to ensure minimal downtime and sustain efficient performance.
  • Breakdown Response: Provide rapid breakdown support to resolve issues in the production area, safeguarding both productivity and quality standards.
  • Support Development: Assist the Engineering Supervisor with facility improvements and service development across the business.
  • Safety and Housekeeping: Ensure all work areas are clean and meet health, safety, and BRC standards, contributing to a secure working environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in CI initiatives, encouraging innovative solutions for operational efficiency and partaking in relevant workshop activities.

Key Duties

  • Communication: Document and relay shift reports, highlighting any breakdowns, repairs, or areas for improvement to department heads.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain stock levels of critical spare parts to avoid unplanned disruptions.
  • Training and Development: Continuously improve technical skills and support production team training in safe equipment use and best practices.
  • Flexible Support: Provide assistance in machine operation, hygiene tasks, and out-of-hours support as required.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Technical Training: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship with qualifications in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Skilled in inspecting and testing various machinery including 415v three-phase motors, 440v DC motors, and variable speed drives.
  • Control Systems: Proficient with Siemens S7 or Allen Bradley PLC systems, PID temperature controls, and thermocouples.
  • Electro-mechanical Repairs: Ability to troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Technical Documentation: Competent in reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
