We are working with a regional contractor based in Newbury for a Design Manager to join the team.

They are an established contractor across the South but are looking to grow their workload through selective tendering with a mix of repeat business for happy previous clients alongside opportunities with new targeted clients, projects and marketplaces through negotiation, 2 stage tendering and competitive bids alongside new opportunities after being appointed to several new framework agreements.

Typical projects range from £5 to £30 million and a majority are negotiated or 2 stage schemes and have a great track record in delivering schools, NHS, healthcare, student, hotels, leisure, retail and care home schemes and are looking now at local authority opportunities as well as education and health-care developments through frameworks.

The role is to take full ownership of all design related work from tender stages, through bid stages and then out to site and be involved through to project completion. There are several projects live in construction phase that you will be involved with immediately to help the delivery teams and supply chains deliver the schemes as well as getting involved with the preconstruction teams on new opportunities. Typically this will involve working with the estimating and bid team, a commercial and delivery/operational project manager and one of the directors to build a team to fully explore and manage the bid through pqq, tender, contract award, construction and delivery. They have excellent relationships in place with local authorities, specialist consultants and architectural practices, subcontractors and supply chain members enabling them to challenge and implement design changes and find alternative solutions to increase quality, speed and improve buildability of the projects.

Candidates should have experience of BIM and BREEAM and have worked for a main or regional contractor on design and build schemes and be able to take full control of some of the critical aspects of a scheme including groundworks, building services and envelope packages.

They have excellent pre-construction, delivery and commercial teams and solid hands on leadership at a local level and now would be an excellent time to join a growing business so to find out more please apply today.
