We are currently seeking a committed and compassionate PMLD Teaching Assistant to join our fantsatic team at a leading SEN school in Newbury, West Berkshire. If you have experience supporting students in the education and training sector with profound and multiple learning disabilities, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children.

PMLD Teaching Assistant Responsbilites:

  • Work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils
  • Promote pupil's independence, self-esteem and social inclusion
  • Give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement
  • Support with planning, preparation and resourcing for lessons
  • Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school's policy and procedures
  • Organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment

We are looking for in our next PMLD Teaching Assistant:

  • Proven experience working with students with PMLD in an educational setting.
  • A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting young people with complex needs
  • A good understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding guidelines
  • Relevant qualifications, professional or personal experience
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for creating an inclusive learning environment.
