Apointe is the proud search partner for a private equity-backed technology organisation in Newbury that is on the cusp of an enormously exciting journey.

The business has circa £50m in revenues and £5mEBITDA, which a superb mid-market PE firm backs.

There is a huge opportunity for organic revenue growth and new customer offerings, which could see revenues skyrocket; we need the CFO to be an integral part of this.

As the CFO, you will be responsible for shaping our financial strategy, overseeing our financial operations and driving sustainable growth. As a member of the Board and reporting to the CEO, the CFO will have overall financial responsibility, and you will have a significant Board voice on broader commercial matters.

This position requires a dynamic and experienced leader with a proven track record in technology, financial planning, and operational management. The Organisation is accelerating its organic growth and will likely create further momentum through strategic M&A. As this may well include a change in equity investors, the CFO must bring experience leading the financial aspects, including business modelling, Private Equity, and successful acquisition and integration.

Value Creation

  • Partner with the CEO, Chair, and Investors to monitor and manage the business plan and drive the growth and performance of the business.
  • Keeping a constant and disciplined grip on key financial levers, ensuring they are fully optimised, and implementing a robust KPI framework to effectively measure key milestones in the Business Plan, focusing on EBITDA and cash.
  • Work with the CEO to ensure appropriate and challenging targets are set, and the business has robust supporting financial models to deliver them.
  • Consistently provide constructive challenge and support to the CEO and the Board, proactively identify, and potentially take responsibility for implementing systems and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Provide support to the CEO on the execution of any bolt-on acquisitions

Strategic leadership

  • Develop and execute the financial strategy to support the company’s short-term and long-term objectives. Collaborate with the executive team and shareholders to drive financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Provide strategic guidance on capital allocation, risk management, and investment decisions.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to establish and execute strategic plans that ensure long-term growth and profitability.
  • Provide strategic insight into historical and current trading by building on a foundation of comprehensive, timely, accurate, and accessible data.
  • Assist with the identification, execution and integration of strategic acquisitions, leading all financial, risk and legal elements

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, treasury, tax, and internal controls
  • Implement robust financial systems, processes, and policies to drive efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial information to stakeholders, including the board of directors, investors, and regulatory bodies.

Fundraising and Capital Structure:

  • Lead the financing process, including debt and equity financing, to support business growth and expansion plans.
  • Cultivate relationships with investors, lenders, and financial institutions to secure funding opportunities.
  • Optimise the capital structure, balance sheet, and liquidity management to ensure the organisation's financial health.

Team Leadership

  • Operating as part of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), provide mentorship and leadership to the executive team and other key personnel.
  • Specifically, I design and lead a comprehensive succession plan for the finance team's senior members.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment that encourages collaboration, creativity, and professional development.
