Calling all physically fit and responsible individuals with experience supervising a Yard! We have an exciting opportunity for a Processing Plant Supervisor in Newbury, Berkshire. Our client a leading organisation in the industry, is looking for a Processing Plant Supervisor to join their team. Located in Newbury, Berkshire, this position offers the chance to contribute to our high standards of operation and manage a dedicated team.

As a Processing Plant Supervisor, your core tasks will include:

  • Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant lines, maintaining high standards of productivity and quality.
  • Managing and supervising the staff under your guidance, ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards.
  • Maintaining appropriate staffing levels and promptly informing the Yard Manager of any staffing issues.
  • Conducting regular inspections of machinery, identifying repair needs, and performing maintenance checks to guarantee safety and operational efficiency.
  • Reporting any breakdowns or plant issues to the Maintenance Engineer and Yard Manager promptly and ensuring they are addressed safely and effectively.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely paperwork, including inventory records and activity logs.
  • Assisting in unloading and loading materials from incoming and outgoing vehicles.
  • Prioritising safety and ensuring the safety of yourself and all other staff members throughout all aspects of your work.
  • Contributing ideas and suggestions to enhance the efficiency and operations of both plant lines and the warehouse.
  • Safeguarding the building and all stock within it, ensuring their safety and security.
  • Assisting with manual yard duties as requested by the Yard Manager.
  • Adhering to company policies and legal guidelines to maintain a safe and orderly working environment.

 

Qualifications and Skills required:

  • Previous experience supervising a Yard or similar environment.
  • Physical fitness to meet the demands of the role.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  • Knowledge of machinery maintenance and repair processes.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with staff, managers, and maintenance personnel.
  • The ability to prioritize safety and maintain high standards of productivity.
  • Basic computer literacy for record-keeping purposes.

The working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, from 07:00 to 17:00, resulting in 47.5 hours per week. Some flexibility may be required due to the nature of the work. This is a day work position with the possibility of overtime, subject to agreement.
