Service Technician
A client is a multi-disciplinary engineering company delivering on-site
and workshop services to the water and gas utilities, nationally and internationally.The services provided focus on maintaining and inspecting assets for transporting water andgas.
Technician Overview Requirements
In the field, technicians are expected to assist with the extraction and re-installation of largeequipment on gas sites, often involving crane operations; they will also assist in inspection of water pipelines, involving working in deep excavations and using inspection tools.
Other ancillary work includes installing and recording readings from water flow monitors, grit blasting and painting of equipment, and taking samples of pipelines and soil to assist with structural analysis.
Future team leaders will need to demonstrate the personal attributes associated with leadership and motivating skills in their work and work ethic, along with an adaptable nature to assist the progress of jobs.
Personal Attributes
Aptitude for mechanical work
Physically fit and willing to deploy away up to four days at a time
Ability to think for and organise oneself and others using initiative and anticipate what work is
required to be done to deliver the requiredservices without being instructed.
Good personal admin and attention to detail to follow written operating procedures.
Ability to always manage and create a safe working environment.
Written English to be of a standard capable of being used in reports and sufficient arithmetic to undertake inspections and report outcomes.
Training And Qualifications
The company will provide the necessary training for qualifications needed to undertake its work, however, it is advantageous for candidates if they hold any of the following:
MPI PCN Level 2.
UT Inspection of Wrought Plate (ISO20807) PCN Level 2.
DPI PCN Level 2.
VS/02 visual inspection.
Medium Risk Confined spaces.
Working at height.
PASMA Scaffold Tower.
UKATA Non-Licensed Asbestos Operative.
Abrasive wheels.
LOLER/Crane Appreciation.
SHEA Gas / Water.
Gas Industry Safe Control of Operations (SCO) Level 1&2.
National Water hygiene card.
New Roads and Street Works Act - Signing, Lighting and Guarding.
Ground support for excavations.
