Due to continued growth and an exciting project portfolio, they are looking for a dedicated Setting Out Engineer to join their team in the North East.

Position Overview:
CDM Recruitment is proud to partner with our client to recruit a skilled Setting Out Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately setting out and surveying construction sites to ensure that projects are built to the correct dimensions and specifications. You will work closely with the site management team and other engineers to ensure that all aspects of the construction process are carried out efficiently and in line with design and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set out the site based on engineering drawings, ensuring accurate measurements and alignment.
  • Conduct site surveys and establish reference points for all site work, including levels, gridlines, and benchmarks.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with the design, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to site teams to ensure accurate and efficient execution of work.
  • Monitor and verify that construction works are built to the required quality and specification.
  • Assist with the preparation of construction drawings and surveys, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Review designs and highlight any discrepancies or potential issues that could affect the construction process.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including as-built surveys, reports, and daily site logs.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to on-site at all times.

Requirements:

  • A relevant engineering qualification (e.g., Civil Engineering or Construction Management).
  • Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer within the construction industry, ideally with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor.
  • Strong knowledge of setting out techniques, surveying equipment, and construction processes.
  • Experience with using Total Stations, GPS, and other setting out equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and construction plans.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team and interact with various stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to resolving site issues and ensuring the project progresses smoothly.
  • Full UK driving license (required for site visits).
