We're partnering with a family-owned, global distribution company, seeking an experienced bookkeeper for a 6-month contract, 2 days per week. This role offers flexibility, the chance to gain valuable experience, and the potential to transition to a permanent position - all while benefiting from the variety and work-life balance that comes with contract work.

You'll be based at their bright, modern office in the heart of Newcastle city centre, offering a vibrant and dynamic work environment. The office is easily accessible, with excellent public transport links right on your doorstep, making your daily commute convenient and hassle-free. Whether you're travelling by bus, train, or metro, you'll be just minutes away from all the action in the city.

You won't be stepping into someone else's shoes, as this is a newly created role offering you the chance to make it your own. You will be responsible for maintaining all transactional processing, accounts payable and accounts receivable, performing bank reconciliations, resolving any queries, and liaising with external accountants to ensure smooth financial operations.

In this role, you'll be the primary point of contact for all clients and suppliers, making you the 'go-to' person for any financial enquiries. Building and maintaining strong relationships will be key to your success, as you'll be responsible for fostering trust and communication between the company and its partners. Whether you're resolving queries or chasing payments your ability to manage these relationships effectively will ensure smooth financial operations and contribute to the company's overall success.

To succeed in this role, you will need proven experience in a similar bookkeeping position, where you have successfully managed financial tasks and processes. Experience using Xero accounting software would be an advantage, although it's not essential, as training can be given in this area.

You'll have the freedom to work independently, bringing your ideas to the table and offering fresh perspectives on how processes can be improved. We're looking for someone detail-oriented, proactive, and able to handle financial tasks with precision. Your problem-solving skills and ability to resolve queries quickly will be highly valued in this role.
