CompanyNigel Wright are delighted to be supporting a business who specialise in the supply, installation, and maintenance of advanced Fire and Gas safety systems and also offer a consultancy service within this field. They focus on providing high-quality solutions to industries such as Oil & Gas, Chemical, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, Hospitals, Universities and Facilities Management. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager, ideally North East office based covering M62 corridor and above, including Scotland.  May also consider candidates based in Edinburgh / Glasgow area.RoleWe are seeking a dynamic and driven Business Development Manager. This role is crucial, primarily for driving new business development and also managing existing accounts to ensure retention and growth.Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and target new, high-value customers in O&G, Chemical, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, Hospitals, Universities and Facilities Management environments.
  • Build and develop long-term relationships with customers.
  • Follow up on customer inquiries promptly, providing a consultative approach and converting opportunities into orders.
  • Understand customers’ needs and requirements, providing them with suitable solutions.
  • Negotiate contracts and close sales.
  • Provide aftersales support and technical assistance to customers.
  • Sell consultancy, product, installation, and maintenance services.
  • Travel to customer sites, with an expectation of 1-2 days per week on average.
Experience
  • Previous experience in selling technical products/services into Oil & Gas and Petrochemicals, with established contacts in these sectors.
  • Experience with fire and gas detection systems is ideal, but candidates with a technical product background will also be considered.
  • Based in the NE office, covering the M62 corridor and above, including Scotland. Candidates based in Scotland will cover Scotland, while other regions will be managed by respective BDMs.
  • Proven experience in a field sales role, capable of managing a territory and own diary.
  • A hunter mentality with a strong drive to get in front of customers and grow the territory. Must be able to generate leads and have a track record of doing so.
  • Motivated by the opportunity to play a key role in an SME, with the ability to take on more responsibility.
