Site Engineer - North East Region
As a Site Engineer, you will play a crucial role in delivering National Highways projects, ensuring accurate surveying, setting out, and quality assurance to support the successful construction of highways and motorway infrastructure. You will work closely with the Senior Site Engineer, Site Manager, and Engineering Manager to meet project objectives while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate survey and setting out information to facilitate construction.
- Ensure all engineering work is carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to maintain compliance with project standards.
- Support site teams by ensuring they understand and correctly implement engineering information.
- Implement a rigorous quality assurance system to ensure works are completed to specification.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and as-built documentation.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Promote and uphold a strong safety culture, ensuring all work is carried out in a safe manner.
- Identify potential hazards and implement risk mitigation measures.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Provide technical guidance and support to site teams as required.
- Lead and contribute to site meetings, ensuring clear communication of engineering requirements.
- Support the effective use of resources to minimize waste and ensure cost control.
- Ensure setting out is delivered in alignment with project schedules and budget constraints.
- Maintain a proactive approach to problem-solving to avoid delays and additional costs.
Essential:
- Proven experience working on highways and motorway construction projects.
- Strong background in civil engineering, particularly in areas such as groundworks, reinforced concrete structures, and steelwork.
- Proficiency in setting out using modern surveying equipment (e.g., Total Station, GPS).
- Working knowledge of CAD software and digital engineering tools.
- Experience in managing quality assurance processes on-site.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
- CSCS card and relevant site certifications.
Desirable:
- HND/NVQ/Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification (if applicable).
- Previous experience working in both highways and rail environments.
- Temporary Works Coordinator or other relevant training.
