This role is to work for a leading Contractor in the Nort East, looking to bolster their strong Design team with individuals looking to develop and get involved in the work ahead. This person will gain valuable experience working alongside experienced Design Managers, assisting in the coordination and management of design processes for a diverse portfolio of projects, from conception to completion.Responsibilities:
- Design Coordination:
* Assist in coordinating the work of architects, engineers, and other specialist consultants.* Review and check design drawings, specifications, and other technical documents, ensuring compliance with building regulations, codes, and client requirements.* Identify and resolve design issues, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to project schedules.
- Project Support:
* Prepare and manage design-related documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.* Attend project meetings and site visits to gain a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.* Assist in the preparation of design presentations and reports for clients and stakeholders.
- Value Engineering and Cost Control:
* Assist in identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization during the design phase.* Collaborate with the estimating team to ensure designs are aligned with project budgets.
- Risk Management:
* Assist in identifying and assessing design-related risks, developing mitigation plans and contingency strategies.* Ensure that all design decisions are made with a focus on safety, quality, and sustainability.
- Continuous Learning:
* Stay abreast of industry trends, design technologies, and best practices.* Contribute to the development and implementation of design management processes within the company.Key Requirements:* A degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related construction discipline.* A strong understanding of building regulations, codes, and construction methods.* Experience working in a design-related role within the construction industry is desirable.* Proficiency in using design software, including AutoCAD and BIM software.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.* A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality design solutions.
