OnPath Energy are one of the UK’s leading land-based developers of complex renewable energy infrastructure within the UK, specialising in the identification, development, consent, construction and operation of onshore wind, solar, and energy storage solutions , required for the transition to Net Zero.
The Legal Counsel position is a newly created opportunity that will play a key role within the business.
This individual will report to the General Counsel and will provide a wide range of legal advice and support. They will work within a collaborative environment across multiple functions, including finance, construction, commercial, and projects.

Key Responsibilities of the Legal Counsel :
- Provide legal advice on corporate governance, commercial matters, finance and corporate transactions, property, planning, regulatory compliance, employment law, and intellectual property
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as property agreements, project development agreements, M&A documentation, supply contracts, and service agreements
- Conduct legal research and stay informed on laws, regulations, and industry trends in the UK renewable energy sector
- Support the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance
- Manage and coordinate with external legal counsel
- Assist in dispute resolution through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation
- Participate in corporate governance and company secretary activities, including preparing and reviewing board materials, minutes, resolutions, and working with document management systems and Companies House
Requirements of the Legal Counsel:
Essential:
- England and Wales or Scottish qualification
- Minimum 1-2 years PQE – preferably with energy experience or related industries
- Excellent analytical, drafting and negotiation skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across the organisation
- Adaptable, possess strong learning agility, and fully invested in growing with the business
Desirable:
- Familiarity with the energy market in the UK
- Strong knowledge of project development and regulatory advice in relation to energy projects
- Experience in financing structures and corporate transactions tax incentives for renewable energy projects
