Database Administrator (MySQL & PostgreSQL)

Day-to-day of the role:
- Design, implement, and maintain MySQL and PostgreSQL databases to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
- Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions as required.
- Ensure data integrity and security through robust backup and recovery solutions.
- Optimise database performance using indexing, query optimisation, and other techniques.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and optimise database schemas and queries.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing essential technical support.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive database documentation, including data models, schemas, and procedures.
- Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data.
- Conduct regular database maintenance tasks, such as updates, patches, and backups.
- Stay informed about the latest database technologies and best practices to continually enhance system efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- In-depth knowledge of database design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Skilled in database performance tuning and optimisation.
- Familiarity with database security practices and data protection regulations.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with database scripting and automation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
