Our Team

The Commercial Business Control team works to enable safe growth within the Business & Commercial function. The team is responsible for identifying and managing the risks faced by the business and ensuring that the necessary controls are in place to keep the risks at an acceptable level.  This role is within the Business Partnering team which provides ongoing support and oversight of the Business & Commercial business units.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting in the embedding the Business & Commercial risk and control profile and continuous review approach in line with the Risk Management Framework.
  • Supporting delivery of accurate and timely escalated risk reporting to Business & Commercial Leadership Team and corporate risk committees in line with the Group Risk management Framework.
  • Continuously developing understanding in specific areas of Business & Commercial to provide risk management support.
  • Planning, scoping and delivery of assurance activity in line with Commercial's oversight plan, with assurance activities proportionate to the level of risk.
  • Developing efficient, evidence-based controls assurance frameworks and executing testing of key controls to demonstrate effectiveness of key controls (design and operating effectiveness).
  • Identifying material risks, key control issues and driving the business to deliver agreed action plans.
  • Communicating in clear and concise language what assurance activity has taken place, what has been found, the materiality of the findings and what is expected to improve or correct to remediate or mitigate findings.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders professionally and with integrity to generate productive working relationships at all levels of seniority.

We need you to have

  • Experience of Risk Frameworks and Systems.
  • Experience of controls assurance practices.
  • Significant Financial Services Industry experience.
  • High level of interpersonal skills, ability to present and influence at and effectively manage stakeholder relationships.
  • A passion for understanding customers and ensuring they are at the heart of everything we do.

It's a bonus if you have but not essential

  • Experience of working within Business Banking or another of the Commercial business areas.
