Mechanical + Electrical Maintenance Engineer

4 day shifts

Our client is urgently seeking a multi-skilled mechanical and electrical engineer to join their team in the South Newcastle area, working on a 4-day shift pattern. Ideally you will have experience within a facilities management environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned maintenance with an emphasis on proactive issue detection.
  • Quickly address breakdowns and conduct efficient corrective maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in various equipment.
  • Record work and parts data on the WMS system.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.
  • Maintain professionalism in all customer interactions.
  • Consistently meet and exceed contract SLAs.
  • Provide support to other technicians and shifts as required.
  • Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a secure work environment.

Requirements:

  • Completed time-served apprenticeship or equivalent training.
  • Hold City & Guilds/NVQ level 3 or higher in a mechanical or electrical discipline.
  • Previous experience in FMCG manufacturing or automated warehousing (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a full airside pass.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including CMMS.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills, able to work both independently and as part of a team, and open to overtime.
  • Professional appearance and respectful demeanor.
  • Desirable skills: 18th edition, ONC/HNC, multiskilled, PLC and diagnostics experience, and experience in training/coaching.
