EC&I Engineer Permanent Full-TimeSalary - Circa £55,000 DOELocation - In office, Tyne and WearWe're supporting a leading engineering and manufacturing company, known for its cutting-edge subsea and marine solutions. Supporting industries such as offshore, renewable energy, and deep-sea exploration, the company is committed to innovation, sustainability, and engineering excellence.As part of its continued growth, the company is expanding its engineering team and seeking an EC&I Engineer. This role involves the design, development, and support of offshore and subsea electrical, control, and instrumentation systems. Responsibilities, but are not limited to

  • Designing power distribution, control panels, motor control centres, and interactive operator stations (HMI, touchscreen, tactile controls)
  • Developing distributed control systems (PLC, SCADA), network communication (RS485, MODBUS, Ethernet), and safety systems (BS EN 60204, BS EN 13849, IEC 60079)
  • Selecting and integrating power components (motors, drives, transformers, switchgear), cabling, earthing, and earth fault detection
  • Creating and maintaining AutoCAD/Inventor drawings, schematics, Bills of Materials, and engineering documentation
  • Conducting machine risk assessments, FMEA/FMECA analysis, and ensuring compliance with British and international standards
  • Supporting manufacturing, commissioning, factory/offshore testing, and troubleshooting for existing systems
  • Liaising with multidisciplinary teams and providing technical support to sales and service teams
  • Involvement in research, development, and offshore work as required

Experiences required

  • BEng (Hons) Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (minimum 2nd class)
  • Experience in machine control systems, automation, or industry sectors such as subsea, energy distribution, rail, automation control, or utilities (desirable)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar schematic design software
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor (advantageous)
  • Competent in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Practical engineering experience or hands-on background (desirable)
