Fitters Mate – Installation Support (National travel)

Temporary to Permanent

£16.50 per hour plus time and a half- and double-time rates

Full time, working away nationally from Monday am to Friday pm.

Based from site in Newcastle upon Tyne

We are looking for a motivated Fitters Mate to assist our Installation Engineers in fitting and maintaining a range of mechanical and automated systems. This role requires a hands-on approach, working as part of a team at various locations across the UK. Some weekend work and occasional overseas travel may be required.

About the Role

You will receive your weekly schedule on Monday morning and be expected to support the Service and Installation team on sites across the UK. All overnight stays are paid for with food expenses and you can expect to be away from Monday morning returning on Friday afternoon.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a mechanical skill set who is eager to develop their expertise in installation work. You must be comfortable working at heights using high-level access platforms and demonstrate a willingness to learn from experienced engineers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support the lead installer by following instructions and assisting with tasks.
  • Develop the ability to complete routine tasks independently after training.
  • Unpack and prepare equipment, tools, and materials for installation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by disposing of waste materials throughout the job.
  • Ensure tools are organized and ready before and after installation.
  • Thoroughly clean and inspect completed installations to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Monitor stock levels in the company van and track parts needed for scheduled work.

What You Need

  • CSCS and/or SSSTS certification.
  • IPAF certification (preferred but not essential).
  • A strong work ethic and ability to perform physical tasks.
  • A proactive and positive attitude.
  • Professional appearance and strong customer service skills.
  • A full, clean UK driving license.
