Based in the vibrant and creative area of Ouseburn, with excellent transport links, this is a superb opportunity to join a friendly, collaborative People Team dedicated to creating a positive employee experience. The Role

As a People Assistant, you’ll be part of a small, supportive, and collaborative People Team that truly values teamwork. Everyone rolls up their sleeves and supports each other to deliver an outstanding employee experience. Working closely with the People Manager and wider team, you’ll play a key role in driving the People Strategy while also supporting day-to-day HR operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • People data reporting: Regularly produce and analyse data on performance, headcount, recruitment, and sickness to help drive informed decisions.
  • Managing starters and leavers: Oversee processes like issuing contracts, handling key documents, and maintaining accurate HRIS records.
  • References and documentation: Respond to employment reference requests promptly and ensure documentation is consistently up to date.
  • Absence management: Support managers with sickness procedures, including assisting with return-to-work meetings and ensuring compliance.
  • Employee relations: Assist with disciplinary and investigation meetings, taking accurate notes and providing guidance.
  • Recruitment and onboarding: Help coordinate recruitment processes, conduct initial interviews, and deliver engaging welcome day introductions.
  • HR documentation: Draft and issue offer letters, employment contracts, and contract amendments, ensuring all records are accurate.
  • First point of contact: Handle general HR queries and provide policy guidance to employees and managers.
  • Office ambassador: Welcome visitors to the office with warmth and professionalism, ensuring a positive first impression of One Utility Bill.

What They’re Looking For

  • HR experience: At least 1 year in a similar People/HR role, with an understanding of key HR processes. The ability to hit the ground running and be confident in first line support and guidance
  • Passion for HR: Enthusiastic about employee experience and up to date with trends and best practices.
  • Proactive mindset: Willing to share ideas and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Organised and efficient: Excellent time management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong communicator: Confident in engaging with stakeholders at all levels and presenting information clearly.
  • Team player: Thrive in a collaborative environment where supporting each other is key to success.
  • CIPD qualification: Desirable, but not essential if you’re working towards it.
