Salary: £42,813 + £3000 MRS

Job Purpose

Provide support to the Head of Curriculum in the management of the central maths and English team in order to ensure performance meets or exceeds College key performance indicators. Line manages direct reports to ensure high levels of performance within the curriculum area. Support the Head of Curriculum in ensuring the delivery of a high standard of learner experience and is prepared for internal and external scrutiny. Lead the implementation of industry standard and College requirements including quality, finance and health and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Curriculum in ensuring effective leadership of central maths and English provision including, curriculum planning, development and delivery.
  • Support the Head of Curriculum in curriculum planning and performance monitoring processes to contribute to outcomes for learners.
  • Support the Head of Curriculum in liaising with the vocational staff at all levels in schools across the College and with the central Quality unit in all aspects of quality enhancement and self-assessment processes.
  • Monitor provision against key performance indicators and benchmarks implementing improvement plans where necessary.
  • Provide support and supervision for the English and/or maths curriculum, ensuring high quality provision and the maximisation of both physical and human resources.
  • Undertake line management of direct reports, such as programme leaders, lecturers, instructors and technicians ensuring full and effective communication across the maths and English central team.
  • Contribute to HR processes such as recruitment and performance management of staff.
  • Deputise for the Head of Curriculum as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviours of the organisation.

Experience:

  • Experience of effective people and performance management.
  • Experience of change management and or implementing new initiatives.
  • Experience of building effective relationships with a range of internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Experience of deploying learning technologies, tracking processes and use of College monitoring systems to support learners to achieve and progress.
  • Experience of English and/or maths curriculum design and innovation, planning, delivering, and assessing for GCSE and FS
  • Experience and evidence of improving learner achievement and progress in GCSE and FS

Qualifications/Training

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in English or maths or a relevant subject area.
  • Qualified teacher status - Desirable
  • PGCE with English and/or maths teaching specialism or equivalent
  • Evidence of current updating.
  • English or maths qualification at L3 or above
  • Management qualification - Desirable
