REQUIREMENTS

It is essential that all applicants must:

  • Have a strong track record of good or outstanding Ofsted inspection ratings.
  • Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

It would be desirable that applicants:

  • Have experience setting up a staff team & curriculum.
  • Have NPQH.

THE ROLE

Compass Associates are working with a leading provider of specialist schools to recruit a Headteacher for their brand-new school for children with complex needs (including SEMH). The Headteacher will be the driving force in setting up the school ahead of its grand opening in Spring 2025.

They will recruit and lead a passionate staff team, effectively line up and manage the school's referrals, and craft and embed a bespoke curriculum, enabling the best possible opportunities for pupils. Once the school is up and running, the Headteacher will cultivate a safe environment that protects the welfare of pupils and staff in the school.

THE CANDIDATE

We are seeking applicants who are experienced Headteachers in the independent SEND sector who have a firm understanding of the current Ofsted framework, with a track record of good or outstanding ratings. As a seasoned leader in the specialist education sector, you will have developed a deep and nuanced understanding of special educational needs - particularly of SEMH needs and be a confident leader of staff teams who is able to develop senior leaders and is driven to improve outcomes for children.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

Two stages:

  • An introductory interview with the Regional Director
  • A formal interview with the Managing Director and Director of Education.
