GSL is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Priamary HLTA with SEN experience to join our vibrant primary schools in Newcastle. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and success of our students. The role of a Primary Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in schools are multifaceted, designed to support both the teaching staff and students in various capacities like those with SEN.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality SEN teaching and learning experiences at primary level.
  • Lead small group activities and interventions to support SEN student progress and achievement.
  • Provide targeted support to students with additional needs, ensuring inclusive and accessible learning opportunities for all.
  • Assist with the planning, preparation, and assessment of lessons and learning materials.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to create a collaborative learning community.

The successful candidate will:

  • Relevant experience working in a primary educational setting, preferably as a HLTA.
  • Have experience of working with SEN pupils.
  • A Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting teaching and learning activities.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
