About the Role:
We are recruiting on behalf of our esteemed client for a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer with Hydrotest expertise to join their team in Newcastle. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading energy technology company, contributing to the advancement of safer, cleaner, and more efficient energy solutions.
As a key member of the Flexible Pipe Systems Offshore team, you will provide critical technical support and guidance to the Work Centre, ensuring that all equipment is in top working order and ready for production. You will also be responsible for maintaining and improving manufacturing processes, adhering to Combined Operating Instructions (COIs) and industry best practices. Additionally, you will provide support to the Production Engineer during short absences, ensuring seamless operations within the Work Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and collaborate on risk assessments with Engineers, Operators, and HSEQ teams.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and hazards within the Work Centre.
- Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, and complete necessary equipment checklists and risk assessments.
- Support and conduct investigations following incidents or accidents.
- Drive down Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) by analysing run data and identifying areas for improvement.
- Review and analyse process inspection records (P.I.R.) to maintain high quality standards.
- Support Lean Daily Management (LDM) within the Work Centre and department.
- Recommend and implement corrective and preventative actions in collaboration with Work Centre Engineers (WCEs).
- Ensure that 6S principles are maintained and sustained within the Work Centre.
- Explore and implement alternatives for process improvements, seeking agreement from Engineers when necessary.
- Participate in or lead Continuous Improvement (CI) activities, coordinating with the Manufacturing Improvement team.
- Provide data and manpower identification for CI activities and projects.
- Coach and mentor Work Centre teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Participate in Lean Development programmes and apply Lean Manufacturing techniques to enhance production performance.
- Identify opportunities for the introduction of lean manufacturing methods.
- Recommend improvements to procedures, equipment, and operational methods to enhance efficiency.
- Ensure all tooling and equipment are in good condition and readily available for production.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential production line stoppages, collaborating with Engineers and supervisors.
- Lead technical or material issue resolution during production in collaboration with WCEs.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures and standards.
- Act as the first point of contact for production-related issues outside of standard working hours.
- Complete and maintain required line documentation, investigating and reporting any failures to meet standard rates.
- Generate and manage action lists to track progress and improvements.
- Verify the completion of material issue/returns forms and voucher hours accurately.
- Understand and document machine capabilities, standard rates, and capacity within your area of responsibility.
- Regularly review and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve production performance.
