Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to oversee the construction of a high-profile £11m student accommodation project in Newcastle city centre. This pivotal role involves the daily management of on-site operations, ensuring the project progresses efficiently, on time, and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be instrumental in the successful delivery of this one-off project.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a significant development in Newcastle city centre. It is a project-specific position, with employment available on a fixed-term or contract basis for the duration of the project. While future opportunities may arise within the region, continuation cannot be guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee day-to-day site operations, including scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and site logistics.
- Ensure all works are delivered to program deadlines and in line with project specifications.
- Monitor and enforce health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with the Project Manager and wider project team to solve on-site issues and implement effective solutions.
- Lead progress meetings with contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate the procurement and delivery of materials in line with the program.
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure works meet the highest standards.
- Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily reports and progress updates.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a Senior Site Manager role, ideally on high-value construction projects, such as residential, living, or education.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, health and safety regulations, and contract management.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively coordinate and motivate on-site teams.
- Ability to problem-solve under pressure and adapt to project challenges.
- A valid CSCS card, SMSTS/SSSTS certification, and first aid training are essential.
