We are looking for a Marine Engineer for a Civil Engineering company based in Newcastle.

The company was founded over 120 years ago and focus on a variety of civil engineering schemes varying from small infrastructure condition appraisals to major strategic transport projects. 

They offer a comprehensive range of civil engineering consultancy services regardless of the scale, nature and complexity of the project. 

Some of the current and recent civil engineering projects consist of roads, bridges, sewers, water supply, communications, energy, airports, public transportation, flood defence, canals, dams, ports and harbours, mining and rail.

You will have an unparalleled opportunity to work alongside a team of dedicated engineers and technicians on a varied portfolio of civil engineering works in the marine environment.

Marine Engineer Job Role:

  • Design and assessment of marine structures.
  • Liaise and communicate clearly in a professional manner to colleagues, clients, contractors and other designers to offer advice and guidance on matters relating to your work.
  • Be able to work in close collaboration with team members.
  • Review designs and drawings completed by team members or other parties for compliance with design standards, best practice guidance, contractual obligations and client expectations, ensuring that quality and consistency of technical output is maintained.
  • Ensure work is compliant with Health and Safety legislation such as the CDM Regulations and other applicable codes.
  • Attend design meetings, site meetings and carryout site inspections.
  • Work on projects with consideration to the agreed project budgetary limits and timescales.
  • Have awareness of business development activities and be responsible for the preparation, issue and management of technical project information, including calculations and drawing information, in accordance with the standard requirements.

Marine Engineer Skills Requred:

  • Have awareness of construction contracts and terms of appointment.
  • Have the ability to liaise with clients, stakeholders and local authorities.
  • A developing skill set in the use of relevant technical analysis, design software and AutoCAD.
  • 3+ years of post-graduate experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
