Zenith People are working with our client who are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager on a permanent basis. This is an opportunity to join an established and growing business here in the North-East.

As an experienced and committed individual you would be responsible for helping to successfully manage practical programmes of work. Your expertise, drive and innovative thinking will support our clients with their net zero ambitions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Management and oversight of multiple mechanical contracts, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Responsible for the delivery of projects meeting agreed KPIs to the highest quality standards.
  • Procurement of plant, materials and subcontractor packages ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Production of project plans, schedules, resource assessments and budgets, and monitoring of progress to ensure effective delivery.
  • Analysis of labour resource requirements for the project and placement and control of labour and associated costs, both internal and sub-contracted.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor the progress of works, identify potential issues and implement solutions to maintain operations and mitigate risks.
  • Drafting and review of schedule of services.
  • Preparation of payment applications and costing and monitoring of variations.
  • Manage site operations and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including the preparation of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Produce progress reports for submission to the senior management team and client.
  • Develop effective working relationships and liaise closely with project stakeholders including clients, consultants, engineers, builders, architects and surveyors, internal project teams.
  • Lead technical and review meetings to progress project objectives.
  • Working simultaneously on a variety of projects with different timescales.
  • Contribute to the preparation of tender submissions and project development.
  • Preparation of O&M manuals, H&S files and handover documentation.
  • Keeping abreast of new technological developments, and sector trends
  • Producing and maintaining risk registers.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, legislative requirements, industry standards, and statutory regulations.

The person:

  • Sound knowledge of Mechanical Services Project Management across all stages of the project lifecycle and a good understanding of the technical, commercial and contractual processes involved.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Experience of drafting and reviewing schedules of services.
  • Excellent communication skills to work across internal and external teams deliver reports, plans and presentations.
  • Team player with a high-level of self-motivation and organisational ability.
  • Analytical and methodical in approach to problem solving.
  • People management and staff supervision with experience of maintaining oversight of others’ work.
  • Experience working on major programmes and/or a portfolio of varied projects.
  • Proficient on Microsoft packages, particularly MS Project with strong all round IT skills and a desire to learn new systems and tools.
  • Degree level or other professional qualification in relevant discipline e.g. Building Services Engineering, Contract Management, Quantity Surveying etc
  • The job holder should have a full current driving licence and demonstrate willingness to travel as and when required.
