We are supporting a school to seek a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their dynamic team in Newcastle. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teachers, specifically within the Science department. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about education and looking to make a positive impact on students' learning experiences.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Supervise and manage classrooms during teacher absences, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and materials provided by the absent teacher.
- Support students in their learning activities, answering questions, and providing guidance as needed.
- Maintain classroom discipline and manage student behaviour in accordance with school policies.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to the Science department, such as marking attendance and recording student progress.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure continuity of learning and support for students.
- Participate in school meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- A degree in a Science subject or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with secondary school students, ideally in a supervisory or teaching assistant role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the varying needs of the school.
