Meridian Business Support requires Plumber/Pipefitters to join one of their well-established clients based in the North-East of England.This is a salaried, (on the cards) permanent opportunity to start ASAP£43,095 - £58,305 (OTE) + Van + fuel card + 24 days paid annual leave + 8 Bank Holidays + Comprehensive company benefits package, training, and career progressionThese opportunities require candidates to work away from home 70% of the time – with travel, lodging and subsistence paid for.30% of the work our client fulfils is based in the North-East of England.All the work are on Commercial and Industrial contracts.Job DescriptionWorking under the instruction of the Project delivery department the position will consist of but may not be entirely limited to the following:
  • Installation of mechanical and public health pipework materials; steel, copper, plastic etc. to suit project design documentation.
  • Installation of heating, chilled water, domestic hot and cold water, natural gas, above ground drainage pipework and valves, using a range of joining/installation methods; push-fit, press-fit (crimp), screwed, flanged/gasket, soldered/capillary, solvent/fusion welded joints etc.
  • Pressure testing of all pipework systems.
  • Installation of mechanical plant items.
  • Installation of sanitaryware appliances; WCs, WHBs, sinks, showers/trays, electric heaters etc.
  • On smaller jobs or domestic installations, sections of pipework lagging may be carried out by the mechanical pipe fitter.
  • General coordination and liaison with other trades and sub-contractors.
  • Maintain a good relationship with other site workers, contractors and suppliers.
  • Work with the project manager and project team to meet programme and key deadlines.
  • Assist the project manager in material take-offs / call-offs where required.
  • Assist junior staff and apprentices where required.
  • Carry out point of work Risk Assessments and Method Statements for work you will be undertaking or managing on site
Technical Competencies
  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in a mechanical related discipline
  • Blue JIB-PMES CSCS card
  • High standard of installation and understanding of the industry safety environment, pressures etc
  • Familiarity with asbestos awareness and procedures
  • Ability to understand design schemes and technical documentation for plant
