The Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your empathy, patience, and dedication will help these young learners thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with teachers to provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) that address students' specific needs.
- Foster a safe and nurturing classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported.
- Monitor and document students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Support students' social and emotional development through positive reinforcement and skill-building activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective support strategies.
Requirements:
- A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their social, emotional, and mental health.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach to understanding and addressing the diverse needs of learners.
- Creativity and adaptability to design and implement effective support strategies.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
- A proactive approach to professional development and continuous learning.
