Built upon three sectors - Pressings, Assembly and Fabrication, the trading business has been around since 1956 originally making press tools as a division of Vickers Armstrong.

In 1987 the business moved from its location in Elswick to a purpose-built factory with 100,000sq ft on Scotswood Road, Newcastle where we remain today. Formed as ADM in March 2009 by a management team acquisition, our core principles are toAspire,Drive andMaintain.


Role Overview

Lead the Quality function to deliver customer service both internally and externally, ensure that the Quality Management System is continually improved and developed through the entire leadership team to promote and grow ADM as out customers first choice partner.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Represent ADM day to day within the leadership team as a "head of quality" with aim to achieve P&L Goals within a safe working environment.
  • Communicate compliance for customer, regulatory and organisationally to ensure contract compliance is fully in place delivering customer satisfaction throughout all area's of the business.
  • Represent ADM Pressingswith regards to third party certification audits , customer audits and where necessary supplier audits.
  • Plan and support the internal audit process within plant, ensure that audits are completed in line with schedule and that actions from audits are completed in a timely manner.
  • Review trends both from customer issues and within QMS metrics and identify at the earliest opportunities improvement strategies to protect our customers. Develop and implement improvement strategies needed to improve customer performance.
  • Ensure that customer complaints are handled effectively, in time and that the relevant documented corrective and preventative actions are tracked and managed to closure.
  • Add value to the business at all stages through promotion of risk assessment, challenge and promote mitigation plans within the business at all levels.
  • Chair regular quality meetings and report metrics on a regular basis, hold the relevant area's of the business accountable for quality and work with them to improve performance.
  • Provide support and guidance in respect to the interpretation and compliance to the ISO9001 and IATF16949 international standards.
  • Oversee the APQP process within the business and report out regularly on new project compliance.
  • Ensure that the quality policy, objectives and management review processes are in place within the business and that processes are followed.
  • Take a lead role in problem solving when required to support and increase leadership focus on larger issues should they occur.
  • Manage departmental spend in line withbudgets.
  • Administer the document control system and QMS to ensure that it is maintained with support of all business functions.
  • Promote the quality message throughout the business and drive empowerment to stop when there is an issue to all levels.

Qualifications

  • Three years experience in an equivalent role
  • Degree qualified ideally in an engineering background
  • Ideally member of CQI
  • Lead auditor ISO9001 or IATF16949
  • Welding process knowledge preferable
  • Problem solving and analytical skills required.
  • Has operatedin a lean manufacturing environment and can bring these skills to the role.
