Our client is on the search for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team and contribute to the successful delivery of construction projects across the UK. They are open to candidates with varying levels of experience, including those just beginning their careers or experienced assistants looking for a new challenge. Ideally, this individual will have experience working with JCT contracts and a strong desire to learn and develop their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Cost Control:
* Assist in the development and maintenance of cost plans, budgets, and forecasts for projects.
* Track and monitor project costs against budgets, identifying potential variations and cost overruns.
* Prepare cost reports and analysis to support project management and decision-making.
- Contract Administration:
* Administer construction contracts, primarily using JCT forms, ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations.
* Process and manage invoices, payments, and other financial transactions related to projects.
* Prepare and manage subcontract agreements.
- Procurement:
* Support the procurement process for materials, labour, and subcontracts.
* Assist with tendering, contract negotiations, and supplier selection.
- Measurement and Valuation:
* Prepare and analyse quantities for various construction works.
* Assist in the preparation of valuations and payment applications.
- Project Support:
* Attend project meetings and site visits to gain a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
* Assist with the resolution of commercial issues and disputes.
* Provide general administrative support to the Quantity Surveying team.
Key Requirements:
* A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline or similar qualification.
* A strong understanding of construction costs, contract administration, and procurement processes.
* Experience working with JCT contracts is preferred.
* Proficiency in using cost-estimating software and relevant industry tools.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop within the team.
