Our client is a well-established Tier 2 construction company based in the North East, specialising in delivering high-quality commercial build projects. They have a strong track record of success and are known for their collaborative work culture and commitment to excellence in all their projects.

Position Overview:
CDM Recruitment is proud to partner with this leading construction company to help them find a talented Senior Quantity Surveyor or a Quantity Surveyor. In this role, you will manage and oversee all commercial aspects of multiple projects, from inception to completion. You will play a key role in ensuring the financial success of projects and will work closely with the project teams to drive efficiency, manage risks, and ensure the highest standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead in the preparation and management of cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Oversee and manage subcontractor accounts, valuations, and payments.
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions with clients and subcontractors.
  • Provide advice and guidance on all commercial and contractual matters.
  • Monitor project progress, identifying any potential issues and implementing solutions.
  • Conduct site visits to assess work completed and identify any discrepancies in progress.
  • Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of tender documentation and bids.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with at least 5 years in the construction industry (preferably in the commercial build sector).
  • A relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g., RICS, CIOB).
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts (JCT, NEC, etc.).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A proactive and results-driven approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving license (required for site visits).
