Psychology Graduate - Teaching Assistant

  • Primary & Secondary SEND School* Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne* Part-Time

Empowering Learning is recruiting Psychology Graduates to support a SEND school in Newcastle as a Teaching Assistant. Your role will be to support pupils with different SEND needs. Some needs you will be supporting are Severe Learning Difficulties, Complex Needs, Autism and ADHD. Experience in supporting pupils with SEND needs is desirable but is not essential. You will be working on a part-time basis working 2-3 days a week with the opportunity of getting a permanent contract with the school after three terms.

Job Responsibilities

  • Comfortable supporting pupils with various Learning Difficulties
  • Ability to engage and support pupils
  • Assist with personal care if needed
  • Supervising pupils behaviour

Job Requirements

  • Experience in supporting children or young adults with SEND needs is desirable but is not essential
  • Able to stay calm and de-escalate challenging behaviour
  • Valid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Available 2-3 days a week and able to commit to at least 2-6 months
