A client within the Public Sector based in Newcastle is currently recruiting for a Fire Safety Officer to join their Health and Safety team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a Fire Safety environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to advise the Council on the most appropriate and cost-effective standards of fire safety in its premises and work operations in accordance with the relevant statutory requirements and codes of practice.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Carrying out fire risk assessments, fire safety inspections, and DSEAR assessments of Council premises, sites, and work operations as required.
  • Providing advice and guidance to directorates regarding fire safety to assist in identifying and mitigating risk.
  • Conducting investigations of any fire safety-related incidents as required.
  • Preparing assessments, CAD fire safety plans, and reports.
  • Supporting the development and monitoring of corporate policies and strategies in relation to the Council's internal fire safety standards and codes of practice.
  • Assisting in designing, procuring, and delivering appropriate fire safety training.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require:

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification as a minimum in Fire Risk Assessment or Fire Safety Audit.
  • Recent experience carrying out fire risk assessments in a range of premises, producing reports incorporating proportionate and cost-effective advice.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • Membership of IFSM or IFE (or working towards membership).
  • Experience in conducting DSEAR assessments.
  • Experience in fire safety investigations to identify causes and make appropriate recommendations to prevent future fires.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering 22 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. 18 per hour PAYE).
