Technical Architect

We're seeking an experienced Technical Architect to join a major government digital transformation programme delivering critical public services. You'll play a key role in designing and implementing modern, user-centered digital solutions that impact millions of citizens across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical architecture of large-scale digital services, ensuring they meet government security standards and accessibility requirements
  • Design resilient, scalable solutions using modern cloud technologies and microservices architecture
  • Collaborate with multiple delivery teams to ensure technical consistency and alignment with strategic goals
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on best practices, patterns, and technologies
  • Work within government technical standards including the Technology Code of Practice and Service Standard
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate technology choices that balance innovation with reliability
  • Ensure solutions meet performance, security, and compliance requirements

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Architect in large-scale digital transformation projects
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), microservices, and API design
  • Experience with government security classifications and NCSC guidelines
  • Track record of delivering highly available, secure, and accessible digital services
  • Understanding of DevOps practices and continuous delivery principles
  • Experience working in agile environments and with distributed delivery teams
