The role:

This team is seeking a Linux Engineering Lead to join a dynamic team. This role involves designing, building, and implementing platform solutions with a focus on Linux systems, distributed highly available systems, and advanced database management. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with a strong technical background and a passion for driving projects from conception to delivery.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Scope out and manage infrastructure projects from conception through to delivery.
  • Implement and manage containerization on-premises using Kubernetes.
  • Lead the migration of platforms from cloud to on-premises data centres, aiming to establish a robust private cloud environment.
  • Oversee network refreshes, storage cluster upgrades, and the consolidation of platforms to reduce complexity.
  • Build out international data centres and enhance platform capabilities within them.
  • Present updates and communicate effectively with the Executive Leadership Team and technical teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with Linux systems and distributed highly available systems.
  • Advanced knowledge in database management with MySQL, Postgres.
  • Experience in taking code to production and Debian packaging.
  • Proficiency in data streaming/queuing technologies such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
  • Familiarity with networking, including Juniper and Cisco systems.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to manage significant issues and guide projects to fruition.
  • Desirable: DBA skills and experience with container management.
