I’m hiring for a Principal Developer for a large employer in the North East.

About You: As a Principal Developer you’ll bring experience in Java and OOP as well as a technical vision and strategy for the team. You will ideally have worked with Spring Boot and Maven to be able to guide and support the development team. You’ll be one of 3 Principal Developers leading and guiding the wider development team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute strategic development initiatives to enhance our technical capabilities.
  • Provide expert guidance across various technical areas, with a focus on Java, Spring Boot, Agile methodologies, and AWS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Set and maintain development standards, ensuring high-quality code and efficient processes.
  • Mentor and support development teams, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending adoption where relevant.
  • Assess and mitigate risks related to development projects and processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align development efforts with business goals.

You will champion best practices, continuous learning and encourage your team to take the initiative to solve wider business problems.

You will be supported by a mature software development department including Software Delivery managers, Agile Project Managers, Software Testers and the wider development team.

Process:

The process will involve a first stage remote interview followed by a second stage face to face interview in Newcastle.
