The CompanyNigel Wright is delighted to be working exclusively with a global engineering business in the recruitment of a Supply Chain Manager to join their team at an exciting time of significant growth. This is a newly created role designed to bring together all aspects of supply chain into one remit.The RoleThis role is a key hire for the business, the successful candidate will be an experienced Supply chain manager with a broad background within a manufacturing/ engineering company. They will be responsible for managing the transfer of the existing purchasing activity to the team and take control of the supplier relationship management. In addition to this you will look at ways to improve processes and will evolve with the role as it grows.One key focus area is planning, this is not something that has been needed so far but in the future would prove to be extremely useful when making strategic decisions on alternative suppliers.The PersonThe successful candidate needs to have confidence in their abilities and be a ‘brand ambassador’ for supply chain, proactive in extolling the virtues of a dedicated supply chain function and influencing their peers – there may be some challenges to the change so the SCM must be respectful and manage the transition effectively and tactfully, respecting the knowledge and expertise of the exiting team.Some import knowledge would be ideal but this is not essential, a proactive mindset and willingness to be hands on are essential.This is an amazing opportunity for someone to shape a new Supply chain function, implementing processes and building a team who will enable the business to take leaps forward in their journey.
