Polymer Development Technician

Newcastle area (car required)

Salary - 23,000 - 28,000 (depending on experience)

35.5 hours per week

SRG is working with a leading UK manufacturer of high-quality polymer products for use in the household and automotive industries. Based in the north Newcastle area, they have recently started looking to expand their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in chemicals or materials to develop skills in the polymers industry. You will join a growing team working on formulating, developing and testing new products for a wide range of industrial applications. Job applications from graduates are welcome and individuals with previous industry experience would be considered at the upper end of the salary scale.

Role Description

  • Testing materials are fit for purpose (mechanical testing, heat stability, rheology, stain, scratch testing)
  • Providing technical support to the R&D team, assisting with pilot trials and new product development
  • Manufacturing polymer films and ensuring they meet quality standards
  • Calibrating laboratory equipment and general laboratory housekeeping
  • Adhering to safety standards and working safely in a fast-paced lab environment
  • Evaluating raw materials and suppliers to ensure budgetary and sustainability requirements are met

Requirements

  • A chemistry, engineering or similar degree qualification
  • A background in materials or physical chemistry from academia
  • Experience in an industrial laboratory environment would be advantageous
  • Good communication skills when speaking with suppliers or customer queries
  • Ability to travel or relocate to the North Newcastle area
  • A drivers licence and access to a car
  • Full right to work in the UK
