The Role: Maths & English (1:2:1 Tutor)

Rate: £18 - £35 per hour (DOE)

Job Description
TeacherActive are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:2:1 Maths and English Tutor to provide individual support to students in need of additional assistance. This role is crucial to helping students build confidence and competence in their abilities in both subjects, preparing them for assessments and fostering a love for learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individual Instruction: Provide tailored tutoring sessions in Maths and English, adapting teaching methods to meet the unique learning needs of each student.
- Assessment: Evaluate students' strengths and areas for improvement through initial assessments and ongoing progress monitoring.
- Lesson Planning: Prepare engaging and effective lesson plans and activities that align with the school's curriculum and integrate best practices for teaching Maths and English.
- Feedback and Reporting: Provide constructive feedback to students, parents, and teachers regarding progress and areas needing further attention.
- Motivation and Support: Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment, motivating students to engage with the content and participate actively in their learning journey.
- Collaboration: Work closely with school staff to align tutoring sessions with classroom goals, ensuring a cohesive education strategy.
- Professional Development: Stay updated with educational practices and resources related to Maths and English tutoring to continuously enhance your effectiveness as a tutor.
Qualifications:
- Education: A degree in Education, English, Maths, or a related field is preferred. Relevant teaching qualifications (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) will be an asset.
- Experience: Previous experience tutoring or teaching Maths and English at primary or secondary levels is essential.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Maths and English curriculum and relevant assessment methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and build rapport with students.
- Patient, empathetic, and adaptable to different learning styles and paces.
