Due to continued growth and expansion they are looking for another experienced Vehicle Mechanic to join their driven and friendly team.
Purpose of Job
The Mechanic will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a mixed fleet of cars and vans in line with legislative standards and company policies, either at client sites or at their Newcastle depot, whilst supporting sites with tyre management.
Key Features
- Attending depots and customer sites to carry out vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs while determining the tools and equipment needed to complete request
- Supporting all sites with maintenance of the condition of the fleet to the highest standard, considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate course of actions
- Protecting all Company vehicle/equipment provided by keeping it clean, serviced and reporting any defects that may develop
- Diagnosing faults or malfunctions of fleet, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerised test equipment and calibration devices
- Analysing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems estimating sizes, distances, and quantities, or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity
- Maintaining functional vehicle condition by actioning job allocation requests, conducting inspections, repairing engine failures, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, replacing parts and components and repairing body damageÂ
- Monitoring and reviewing information from materials or the environment to detect or assess problems
- Carrying out engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters
- Removing and swapping tyres, as advised, in line with Company tyre policy
- Examining parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometres and gauges
- Assembling gear systems and aligning frames and gears
- Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
- Cleaning parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solvent
- Fitting bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical and hydraulic equipment
- Complying with Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
- Operating vehicles or equipment in a safe and complaint manner
- Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to the job by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources, utilising the Institute of the Automotive Industry
- Identifying information by categorising, estimating, recognising differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events with geographical knowledge being aware of any logistical changes
- Providing information to supervisors and co-workers. Entering or maintaining information in written or electronic forms. Communicating with people outside the organisation and representing the organisation to customers, the public, government and other external sources in a positive light
- Maintaining vehicles’ appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting (including personal vehicle)
- Maintaining vehicle records by recording services and repairs
- Containing costs by using warranties, evaluating service and parts options. Keeping supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipts
- Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily based on electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles
- Scheduling workload, developing action plan to prioritise, organise, and accomplish your work, monitoring/assessing performance of yourself to make improvements or take corrective action for efficiency
- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding the best course of action, watching gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
The job holder must hold a full, valid UK driving licence
Minimum five years’ experience as a Mobile Mechanic
Must have a recognised Mobile Mechanic qualification i.e., Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or Diploma in Vehicle Technology or similar
Knowledge of tyres including use of tyre machine and balancer would be advantageous
Experience with light commercial vehicles is advantageous
Good administrative skills
Good knowledge of Health & Safety act 1974
The job holder must possess good safety and time-management skills and be experienced in delivering excellent customer service
The job holder must be skilled at independently problem-solving and analysing information to reach effective solutions, with a persistent and dependable attitude
