1.Role Overview
Responsible for basic JIG & fixture MIG welding on mild steel, ranging from 3mm up to 10mm in thickness. The job is predominantly batch work and you may also be responsible for basic conventional machining, grinding, dressing & fettling
2.Duties & Key Responsibilities
Level 1
Adhere to all aspects of Health and Safety across the site and have direct responsibility identifying any areas of risk within the bay which should be dealt with in line with the current procedure in place
Responsible for the production of Parts that meet quality standard and where non-conformances arise ensure these are reported using the procedures in place and provide suggestions for corrective and preventative actions.
Responsible for ensuring that all SOPs, Quality Plan and weld procedures are adhered to and all necessary documentation completed in a timely manner
Deal with all issues as they arise and seek immediate advice from the Supervision / Team Leader when necessary
Ensure all aspects of company policy and procedure are fully adhered to in the bay
Support the Supervisor / Team Leader with ensuring all apprentices while in the bay receive full support in order to meet their apprenticeship programmes
Support the Supervisor / Team Leader with ensuring the required independent quality inspections are carried out
Support the Supervisor / Team Leader in driving continuous improvement initiatives in the bay
Attend and contribute to morning briefs as required
Undertake alternative value-added activities for periods of non-productive work
Ensure the area meets and exceed the company standards on 5s
Working to a schedule provided by the Line Manager produce components to given specifications, adhering to a defined Standard Operating Procedure / Work instruction.
Ensure that work is completed to the quality standards specified and all necessary records documented
Ensure that safe working practices and procedures are adhered to in the working area
To support the Bay team in continually seeking ways to improve safety and quality, to increase productivity and reduce cost in the manufacture process of parts whilst meeting the requirement of on time, in full, in cost

Level 2
Design of jigs and fixtures. Reverse engineering a jig to suit components and parts. Maximising density and understanding electroplating processes in order to achieve full paint coverage
Calibration of jigs (specifically Aston Martin bonnets within 0.2mm tolerance)
Jig maintenance. Repairing all jigs specific to paint
Trials of equipment specific to the paint process. Shotblasting, product trials. 3D to 2D trials

5.Qualifications & Experience
Recognised relevant engineering qualification where applicable
Recognised NVQ where applicable or time served welder
Basic level of Maths and English
Ability to read and interpret information required to operate equipment and meet planned output
Able to demonstrate good level of Mig welding skill (Part of skill test)
Demonstrate a basic level of planning and organisational skills in a manufacturing environment
Endeavour to communicate in a constructive manner
Try to maintain a balanced and constructive attitude in all situations
Try to remain self-motivated and attempt to work on own initiative
