Overview of the Role

This Deputy Manager role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a children’s residential home, providing therapeutic care and support to children and young people aged 8-18 with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.

In this role, you will work closely with the Service Manager to deliver high-quality care and lead a team of highly skilled and compassionate professionals. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and positive environment where young people can overcome challenges, build trust, and develop the skills needed for a successful and fulfilling future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality care to children and young people in line with individual care plans and organizational policies.
  • Assist the Service Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the home.
  • Support young people through therapeutic and activity-based interventions to meet their individual needs.
  • Lead, guide, and supervise team members to ensure the delivery of consistent, effective care.
  • Ensure all care plans, risk assessments, and documentation are up to date and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Act as a positive role model to the young people, promoting recovery, growth, and resilience.
  • Coordinate and participate in outdoor and physical activities such as kayaking, paddle boarding, hill walking, and rock climbing to engage young people in building trust and self-confidence.
  • Safeguard the physical and emotional wellbeing of young people, creating a safe and supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to provide integrated and holistic care for children and young people.
  • Attend meetings with external professionals and agencies to ensure effective communication and planning for each young person.

Requirements

  • Qualifications:

    • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (mandatory).
    • A Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or other qualifications cannot be considered for this role.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a residential childcare setting at a Senior level.
  • Skills and Attributes:

    • Naturally caring, flexible, and resilient.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to act as a positive role model for children and young people.
  • Other Requirements:

    • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (essential).
    • Willingness to participate in outdoor and physical activities.
