Senior Engineering Project Manager

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Project Manager, to join their team in Newcastle. They have been working within a niche industry for the last 65 years, across a wide range of sectors - including Energy, Aerospace, Marine, Nuclear, Petro-chemical and Utilities.

Supporting the Head of Projects you will bring technical expertise, commercial awareness, and strong leadership to ensure successful project execution. You will be responsible for overseeing the full project lifecycle in a custom fabrication and manufacturing environment, ensuring timely delivery within budget and in line with company objectives.

Working both independently and collaboratively with the project management team, you will play a pivotal role in project success. Your solid engineering background and extensive Project management experience will ensure your success.

This is a hybrid role, working from home Monday and Friday. This position involves travelling to customer sites across the region so you will need a full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle (compensated with a generous car allowance).

Essential Experience:

  • A project management qualification with at least 5-years hands on experience within a closely related industry, demonstrating strong technical competence and a keen understanding of the commercial aspects of business
  • HNC qualified or equivalent
  • CDM knowledge (Construction, Design and Management) Regulations
  • Extensive experience in client-facing roles, including gathering initial project briefs, coordinating with all relevant parties, and confidently presenting and negotiating with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel overseas on occasion
  • Beneficial knowledge
  • Gas Turbine knowledge
  • Fabrication / manufacturing project management
  • Experience of Large Oil and Gas/ Power projects
  • Understanding of the capabilities of Primavera P3e, Microsoft Project or Asta project planning software
