Overview:

Newcastle Under Lyme Borough Council is seeking an experienced Environmental Protection Team Manager to lead the Environmental Protection Team. This hybrid role requires strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective environmental services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the Environmental Protection Team, ensuring compliance with Council policies and regulations.
  • Oversee statutory functions including nuisance investigation, pollution control, air quality, and contaminated land regulation.
  • Develop a high-performing, customer-focused team culture through effective people management and inter-service collaboration.
  • Provide expert guidance on environmental health matters and represent the Council in various forums.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • EHRB registered Environmental Health Officer with a Corporate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
  • Proven experience managing environmental protection services and a diverse workload.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and local government procedures.
  • Ability to handle media interactions and represent the Council effectively in public forums.
