It’s a very important job, and you’ll be helping to improve products, developing new ones, and contributing to areas including safety.
The business is the UK’s foremost bespoke manufacturer of a range of products that are made of steel. It’s a friendly, fun working environment but very professional.
Based from a new ÂŁ6m facility in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire, they have the best in hi-tech systems; processes flow seamlessly, enabling them to produce the highest quality products.
You will play a key role in designing, developing, and improving the product portfolio; ensuring they meet quality, safety, and performance standards. Both existing products, and new ones with a view to launching them; including prototype development and testing.
You’ll be collaborating with various teams across the business, to drive product innovation, optimise manufacturing processes, and address customer requirements.
There will be technical documentation to complete; and you’ll need to make sure that everything is compliant with industry standards and regulations. For example fire resistance, durability, insulation, and security.
And you’ll get to use your problem-solving skills, as there will be loads of things to work on.
There will be some work with materials, but this won’t be the main focus.
WHERE YOU'LL BE DOING IT
Location is Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. Commutable from areas including Stoke, Derby, Crewe, Stafford and Telford.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
There is some flexibility in degree type, but it will need to be engineering related, with ideally some focus on manufacturing or research and development.
You’ll need good 3D CAD skills (ideally Solidworks). And you will also need a keen eye for detail.
And you will also need a driving licence, as there will be some travel to testing centres. It won’t be too often: around every 6 to 7 weeks or so.
If you have done anything with sheet metal (maybe a project) then that would be great; but it’s ok if not, though you’ll need to be happy working with it.
